Let's use Hero from above, say you only have Hero of Bladehold and Fireflux Squad in play. ![]() You cannot wait until a different trigger creatures a token for you and then target that with fireflux squad. When you are declaring attackers and want to begin putting triggers on the stack, there has to be an existing target to put the trigger on the stack in order to get that ability. Activating Beast Mode - Activating a Triggered Ability Requires a TargetĬards like ] make for a cool way to put your creatures to good use, but I believe people are misunderstanding when they can use this ability. That is why multiple combat phase cards that untap your creatures, such as ] or creatures that untap your creatures when they attack like ] are helpful if you are going to run cards like Aurelia. HOWEVER, if you are running a build that focuses heavily on putting creature tokens into play tapped and attacking, then vigilance will not help those creature tokens when your second combat rolls around. Some of you are smuggly sipping your tea and thinking, "yes Chocolaterage of course.that is why I included my vigilance cards like ] you neanderthal." What this means is that on your first combat, Aurelia will untap all of your creatures, but she will not untap your creatures on any additional combat phases. "Whenever Aurelia, the Warleader attacks for the first time each turn, untap all creatures you control" If you look closely at Aurelia's text you'll notice the following important text: You're Never Gonna Stop - Multiple Combat StepsĬards like ] make multiple combats to give you even more attack triggers, however they don't always include a way to untap their attackers when the additional combat phase comes rolling around. When you bring something into play tapped and attacking, it was never declared as an attacker. This applies to all "whenever this creature attacks" triggers by the way, not just pump spells. If you had Isshin out, it would double the Fervent Charge for the human, goblin, and hero, and it would double the battle cry effect for everyone but the Hero. You end up with a 4/3 human, a 4/3 goblin, a 2/1 Kor Ally, two 2/1 soldier's, and a 5/6 Hero of Bladehold. This means that your attacking kor ally and soldier's will receive the benefit of battle cry. It doesn't care about when a creature attacks, but instead it cares about attacking creatures. Now when you choose to resolve the stack, you can put the battle cry effect at the very end.
